Racing adventures at the MotoGP

Racing adventures at the MotoGP 1354 437 Galia Brener

Continued from last week …

When Dan picked up the phone, his mischievous voice told me everything I needed to know. Apparently he slept at the guy’s villa that he met last night at the VOGUE/Mercedes Benz event in Borschardt. Dan was already madly in love, dreaming of his days as the perfect hostess wife to his influential husband. If anyone would know, it would break out as a huge scandal in Europe, so I must keep the name a big secret!

When we arrived at the Sachsenring, we were greeted by a Bridgestone rep and given an Access All Areas pass. Apparently this pass was worth gold at the MotoGP, because it meant access to the team garages and pit areas. We were taken on a tour of the various teams, starting with Ducati, and ending with Yamaha. There I met the infamous Bradley Smith of the Tech3 team, and he gave us some insider gossip about his growing success. I couldn’t help notice the girls running around in the background, doing jumping jacks to get his attention. Managers were running from left to right, protecting their riders like fresh Kobe beef from flies.

I felt the buzzing energy all around me. Journalists, photographers and TV crews were scurrying around like mad chickens without their heads, trying to capture the exciting moments before the race. We were invited by the prestigious Bridgestone tire brand, and they made sure our VIP weekend was one to remember. They set us up in a 5-star boutique hotel in a picturesque town beside the racetrack. As I walked into my room, I saw a huge bright red beach towel and cap waiting for me on the bed. As I came closer to the cap, I noticed that it was signed by the one and only German race star Stefan Bradl! What an excellent and rare present.

The next day has dawned, and we were taken to the racetrack to see the teams. As I stepped out of the black shuttle, my breath was taken away! The roar of the engines violently penetrated my ears, making its aggressive way through my body, where I felt its vibrations deep in my stomach. It was a sound that I have never heard before – so wild, strong and unrelenting! The sound shook me to my core, and the rush woke my body up, and all of my senses. I loved it! A beautiful English girl escorted us to the garage of the NGM team, and delivered us to the “aquarium” where we could see the bikes being worked on. The team manager was sending me winks, signaling for me to come closer to the naked bike, but my first reaction was to hide from him. During the training we saw some fierce wipeouts, with the riders being brutally thrown off their bikes, and spinning in the air with a crash landing. But strangely like rubber dolls, they got right back up! After some exciting roaring action and shaky knees, we were taken back to the hotel for a succulent feast in the garden. The wine and bubbly were flowing, and the singer was arousing us with her deep scratchy voice. As usual I ate the most spare-ribs, which brought a round of appreciative comments from the men. All the guests were hyper in anticipation for the big day tomorrow – the race!

It was morning, and I put on my favorite Versace leather racing jacket and my new autographed cap for good luck. As we arrived at the VIP Village, a seductive lady with wild red hair greeted us. She showed us to our table, and brought us a cold glass of Cava directly in the morning! Somehow I already knew that this would be a wild day. The men were running around like little boys set free in a fire department. It was a very exciting atmosphere, where the sheer energy could charge an entire city with light for one night! We went to the pit area, along with the TV cameras. Each team had curvy half-naked ladies walking as human advertising for their brand.

While the men were ogling the girls, I was drooling over the bikes. What a collection of hardware! Each team had 4 bikes to die for. I got a chance to meet Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow of the Ducati team before the race, as well as the young and ridiculously handsome Aleix Espargaro of the NGM team. Valentino Rossi – who is like the Mick Jagger of motorcycle racing – was casually walking around. Men, women and children have gathered with the hope of a short glimpse of him. It was insanity – everyone was screaming as he passed, and yet so thrilling to watch from afar. Rossi could probably pick any girl at the racetrack and have her. I personally did not find him attractive at all, but his skills speak louder than his looks. Our fantastic Bridgestone rep Chris gathered us for the race countdown. Drinks and cakes were served, and the VIPs were standing on the terrace, screaming out to the teams below. Wild and untamed, every man let his animalistic side out. This was such a fresh new experience, and definitely more thrilling than fashion week for me! The bikes were lined up, the engines were revving up, and with a loud mechanical stampede, the riders were gone! I have never heard anything so loud in my life before! I found myself screaming alongside my Neanderthal neighbor, who was swinging his gold Rolex watch in the air. The adrenalin pumped freely throughout my thin body, and I had a euphoric rush in my head. All of a sudden, it was over like a dream! Marc Marquez won the race, and all of the Spanish fans were going insane! Marquez is so far Nr. 1 for the MotoGP world standing in 2014. I don’t want to know how many babies were made that night, but the race was simply phenomenal! We had to bid farewell, leaving the remaining cold bottles of Cava for the next country to enjoy. Bridgestone excelled in their hospitality, and made this a VIP event that I will never forget! I have always been a chopper girl, but this weekend opened my eyes to race bikes.

Drama at the Fashion Week in Berlin!

Drama at the Fashion Week in Berlin! 1354 437 Galia Brener

My love for Frankfurt will never fade, but even the die-hard fans like myself, have to leave their cozy Äppelsche-Nest once in a while. So I packed my Cheburashka with me, and headed East towards the sunrise.

The first stop for my adventure was the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Berlin. I have a love/hate relationship with this city. Some good career moves happened for me there, but also a few bad things – including a horrible heartbreak that took a while to recover from. As we arrived and checked into our beautiful suite by the river, the excitement was mounting inside of my stomach. I put on my custom-sewn silk oriental dress, the highest heels I had with me, large round gold-framed glasses, and made my way to the black Mercedes shuttle that was waiting for us in front of the hotel.

We were invited by Nespresso, and the rep greeted us with VIP passes and guided us to the lounge. There were beautiful people everywhere, and I felt like Gali in Wonderland, cushioned by the cold warmth of champagne. We were given our tickets and ushered into the first show. There were cameras everywhere with flashes going off like deranged alien eyes. As the lights dimmed, we saw who the camera-magnet was. It was Tommy Hilfiger in his snazzy red pant, supporting the Designer For Tomorrow show that we were about to see. Klaus Wowereit, the mayor of Berlin was sitting not far away from us. He was pleased to hear that I am a Canadian enjoying Berlin, and so we chatted about Toronto, writing and fashion. My gay friend Dan started flirting heavily, his eyes glazed over by the fantasy of being “Berlin’s First Lady”. Mr. Wowereit was not responding to him, so Dan got angry in his sassy bitchy way, got up and loudly said, “UH! Don’t pay attention to me, whatever! I’m going to flirt with Tommy. By the time you finish your airport, we will all be already dead anyways!” and stormed away. Oh my Lord. I love my friends. The word drama doesn’t do it justice. A man behind us almost fell on the floor due to laughing hysterics, and I wanted to crawl under my seat. Thankfully the show has started, and all politics were quickly forgotten.

Luckily we managed to go back quickly to the Mercedes Lounge for a refill of the cold champagne before the backstage tour and the Guido Maria Kretschmer show, because the drama there outdid the previous one! We arrived at the front row, and a lady seated us in the center with the best view for the show. There was a Kretschmer Barbie on each seat for the guests to take, and a naughty man beside me said that the doll had no panties on. Dan and his friend Stan were excited too soon about the hot seats we got, because a moment after, a square-built man came up to them and said they had to leave because the seats were reserved for his client. Dan and Stan did not move anywhere. A few minutes later the client arrived, who happened to be Verona Pooth, and said they have her seats. Stan waved his hand in front of his face in an exaggerated “No” gesture. I could see that Ms. Pooth was about to express her own gesture, and before the cameras would rush in front of our Frankfurt faces, I pulled Dan and Stan up from the seats, and she shot me an appreciative friendly glance. Another accident avoided! Of course both took the Barbies with them, waving the naked plastic oysters in that direction as they were leaving! The funny thing was that our original seats were almost right across, also in the front row. The Kretschmer show was full of energy and elegance. I especially liked the last few dresses that had a glamorous rock feeling to them, which I would definitely wear for a special occasion like a Guns n’ Roses reunion concert and backstage party. Thank you Mr. Kretschmer for a wonderful collection and show!

After the show ended on that warm summer Wednesday evening, we later made our way to the Borchardt restaurant for the legendary VOGUE & Mercedes Benz event, where the who’s who of the fashion world were to be seen. It was exceptionally chic there, and felt like a scene out of the Chanel movie. The ladies were sashaying across Borchardts in their exquisite black and nude outfits, and I felt like an exotic parrot in my coral-toned silk dress. But never mind the color shock, I had Dan and Stan on each arm, and the guests loved them! The night was setting, and I felt like Frankfurt’s Cinderella, who had to hurry to her carriage, before the clock struck midnight, and my Gucci shoes would turn into two Bembels on my feet! The DanStan Team stayed at the party, with the hopes of catching a rich sugar daddy, and finally having a chance to become a trophy “wife”. As a matter of fact, Dan did meet a very influential man, but he swore me to secrecy not to mention the name. If that ever comes out, it would be the talk of Europe for months! I came back to my castle, spread my dress on the velvet couch, and slipped underneath the crisp cold sheets. In the morning, I realized that I was completely alone in the suite! Where were my friends? I had to find my sweet little troublemakers, who were hopefully not hung over in a dungeon somewhere, because we had to leave Berlin and continue on our adventure. The MotoGP race was definitely not going to wait for us to start. I called Dan, and he picked up with a lazy seductive voice, whispering something that had me grinning from ear to ear…

… The adventure is continued here

Opernplatzfest Frankfurt 2014

Opernplatzfest Frankfurt 2014 1354 437 Galia Brener

The summer is here, and as usual, Frankfurt comes alive with many exciting festivals and things to do. Last week the city celebrated its infamous Opernplatzfest, which takes place every year around the beautiful historical building, the Alte Oper. This is always an exciting event because there are International stands selling a variety of food, drinks, and other amusing surprises. In the middle of the festival one can find the marvelous fountain, which serves as a perfect place to sit, dance around, and flirt your heart out! There is a DJ spinning nice melodic tunes on the weekend, and during the week you can hear various ethnical bands playing to beat of the wind.

I like this festival because it has a special ambience that gives me a chance to catch up with my loved ones over a delicious glass of German Riesling wine, while enjoying a fun night out in the city. As with many other Frankfurt events, the Opernplatzfest is definitely a place to see and be seen. Not to mention that it is also a perfect place to come after work, and enjoy a nice flirt at the wine stand. You never know who you will rub elbows with here, so come and take a look!

Here are some photos of my friends and I enjoying a warm summer night at the Opernplatzfest.

Frankfurt goes to Valencia for Firestone

Frankfurt goes to Valencia for Firestone 1354 437 Galia Brener

Last week, I packed my favorite mini cosmopolitan city with me in my suitcase and made my way to Valencia for the launch of the Firestone Destination HP tire. I was really surprised to see how many women were there, thinking that it would be mostly a male-dominated event. We were greeted at the elegant 4-star hotel by a group of gorgeous Spanish ladies, who took us to the outside bar area for a welcome drink. Huge tapas plates and cold glasses of crisp cava were awaiting us, along with the hot summer air. I was delighted to hear that the women were louder than the men, making naughty car and guy jokes. I couldn’t stop laughing at how open and uninhibited they were – Firestone women on fire! Our representative Chris gave us a mischievous wink, and announced, “Let the challenge begin!”

We started with a bike tour around Valencia’s City of Arts and Sciences, and drove into the old town. It was very beautiful with many remarkable old buildings and streets. A few people damaged their bikes on the way, so it was really like a survival of the fittest biker tour! We got back to the hotel, changed faster than the speed of light, and were chauffeured to the secret location of the opening ceremony. As we arrived in front of the futuristic cube building, a huge two-floor level “F” of the Firestone logo greeted us as a bright beacon in the night. We stepped into a dimly-lit area, and the first thing I saw was the celebrated Destination HP tire, standing under a pink spot light in the middle of the room in all its glory… quite mysterious indeed. The DJ was playing a hypnotic house set, and more pretty ladies in red Firestone polo shirts were floating around with a tray of various cold drinks. The catering gentlemen in black were circulating their delicious creations, including my favorite mini burgers, langoustine on sticks, and other exotic dishes. Here we met Stefano Modena, the Italian Formula One racing star of the late 80s. He is such an open, friendly and cool character. He explained the racing and tire business to me a bit, and we all had a great evening.

The next day, the real adventure began! We got a black Firestone polo shirt, and were sent off to the next mysterious location, where we teamed up in twos and were given our own SUV to have crazy fun and burn some rubber! We had to collect points, and the team with the highest score would win. I got a really cool racing partner Nicole, who goes by the name of Auto Diva. I was given my very first roadbook, which I learned to read on the spot, and so the challenge was on! We made our way through the city of Valencia with this roadbook, and then drove off the main roads, onto a rough terrain. Half the time I wasn’t sure if we were on the right path because it was mainly an abandoned strenuous off road with many ups and down, and huge rocks everywhere. But we put the pedal to the medal, created dust and dirt hurricanes behind us, and arrived at the destination point, which was a racetrack, where Stefano Modena was waiting for us. There we got to drive like devil-possessed teenagers on the wet track, and also another off road track, where some drops were almost completely vertical! The tires had a really strong grip, and performed excellently on wet and dry land. What a wild ride! My heart was thumping with adrenaline and excitement. And guess what? Surprise, surprise, the winning car was driven by two women.

We got back to the hotel, had some relaxing spa hours, and then escorted to the dinner and party at the picturesque harbor. We went on a catamaran ride that took us into the ocean to watch the gold sunset. After some bottles of cava, we proceeded to a restaurant where we ate more delicacies, and were ready to shake it on the dance floor. Our cool and cheerful rep Chris took us to the VIP section of the open-air club, where a table and bottles were waiting for us with open arms. We danced into the early morning hours, where the Valencia sky was turning a glowing purple, and everyone was in an ecstatic mood. It was like being in a wonderland for adults. What a phenomenal day!

As the weekend came to an end, and all of the action-packed events played through my head, I was very happy to see how the times have changed. So many more women are involved in this industry. Firestone is really ahead in the tire game because they know how to appeal to both genders, and their trendy lifestyle-factor is very prominent. Also ladies, I’ve seen once again that if you want to meet fun and interesting men, go to more car events. You never know if your future partner is somewhere amongst the crazy adrenaline junkies or tire lovers. All in all, Firestone positively surprised me: an incredible weekend, a very exciting launch, an adventure never to be forgotten, and a competitive, good-priced product! At the end, Frankfurt loved Valencia, but still nothing beats coming back home to my favorite Mainhattan.

Audi Sport Night

Audi Sport Night 1354 437 Galia Brener

Frankfurt has shown it’s fabulous side once again this week, and the highlight was focused on cars, a concept store and literature. What I really love about our city is that there is always something fun and exciting happening just around the corner. Not only do we have a gorgeous skyline, but we also have sophisticated events that are accompanied by lights, camera and action! However, the trick is that Frankfurt does not open up its beauty and warmth to everyone, so for those that truly love our city – congratulations! That means that the city has opened up to you, and loves you in return.

My exciting week started off with the classy Audi Sport Night. The event was held at the Charlot and Operncafé, two lovely restaurants alongside the grand Alte Oper building. As we arrived, two pretty ladies dressed in black wrapped an Audi bracelet around our wrists, and welcomed us inside. The music was floating around the relaxed spring night, and the service team was handing out drinks, while showering the ladies with charming Italian compliments. The beauty that I saw in front of the restaurants immediately possessed my attention, and I walked away from the crowd. On display was a beautiful black Audi R8 Spyder! Being the notorious car lover that I am, I could not step away from the car. I walked around it a few times, admiring it in all its glory. I approved the 10-Spoke-Y-Design rims, and passionately touched the smooth shiny black lacquer with my palm. I probably looked funny, caressing the car over and over again, but I didn’t care. The R8 Spyder is there to make love – preferably going over 250 km/h on the Autobahn!

The girls came back outside and dragged me away from my beloved, telling me to behave and stop caressing the car! A nice cold prosecco was placed in my hand, and so the glamorous evening had begun. I looked around, and everyone was dressed in their finest suits and stylish dresses. The who’s who of Frankfurt was of course in attendance, along with a soccer world champion and the 2014 Olympic moderator. The people were all in very good spirits, with lots of happy chatter and laughter to be heard in the air. The restaurants served delicious food the entire night, and my favorite was the jumbo shrimp in a succulent sauce on a large spoon. I met some very interesting people this evening, and had great conversations. I also noticed the men flirting with the women, and the seductive smiles reflected by the warm lights of the Alte Oper. All in all, I have to say that it was a very fun and successful event organized by OCK GmbH.

A few days later we made our way to the Münchener Straße 9, to the PIP STUDIO by Ayfer Arslan. It was the pre-opening event to her lovely concept store. The first thing I noticed upon our arrival was the beautiful bright and pastel colors of the store and the food that matched the interior colors! The catering was done by InterContinental, and the bright colors even matched the drinks. Beautiful pink macarons matched the pink champagne, purple pastries matches the exotic purple cocktails – and everything was served with love and a perfect attention to detail. The store hosts a cool bar, an exclusive selection of wines and champagne, a glamorous collection of dresses and unique colorful dinnerware sets – that would look stunning in a garden party on a warm summer night. The guests were greeted not only with luxury sweets, but also with a very special surprise for the evening.

The surprise was the only and only, Jens Prewo – author of the bestseller book “111 GRÜNDE, FRANKFURT ZU LIEBEN” – and a very good friend of mine. In his book, Jens mentioned the 111 reasons to love Frankfurt, and he came up with an extraordinary list. The book covers everything from the glamorous and chic Frankfurt, to the traditional and cultural apple wine and green sauce scene, to the underground red light district, full of dark and curious mysteries. I highly recommend buying this book because Jens has a wonderful way of writing with intelligent irony and humor, which really leaves you with a smile after you finish reading the book. He definitely captures the magic of this city! After listening to the soothing voice of our Jens Prewo – reading the highlights out of his book – we ended the week with colorful macarons, a glance at Ayfer’s stunning dresses, and a sunset to remember… in our wonderful city that has 111 reasons to be loved.

The delicious 4-hour love affair (3 Michelin Stars + Brioni)

The delicious 4-hour love affair (3 Michelin Stars + Brioni) 1354 437 Galia Brener

I never cease to be amazed at how much our little “big” city has to offer! Just when you think that you have seen it all here, another cool thing suddenly appears, and shocks you in the most positive way! Last week Frankfurt showed me that not only do the luxurious Italians love us, but also our very own stars have magic surprises to keep the suspense, mystery and love alive in this fabulous city.

Have you ever had a complete love affair within 4 hours? I am talking about the real deal starting from the meeting, getting to know each other, wild sex, a few dramas and then a separation – all within 4 hours?! I have never experienced this either until I stepped into the Restaurant Amador. When we arrived, we found ourselves in front of a heavy massive door with a large metal “A” cut out of metal, positioned as the door handle. There were lights on both sides, but the rest of the huge industrial building was pitch dark! If you are a David Lynch fan like myself, imagine the entrance to the Club Silencio in his movie Mulholland Drive, and you will get the mysterious feeling of Amador’s beautiful entrance.

Unlike the outside, everything inside was white with slight red accents. I like large bright white rooms, so I felt very comfortable there right away. We were greeted by a beautiful woman who showed us to our table. As the first glass of pink cava was served, I realized that sitting there felt like being in a room in outer space. It was as if time has slowed down! The fascinating thing was that the staff was walking so lightly and quietly on their feet – that they looked like angels floating around the room. Hence the feeling was as if gravity was removed from the room – a very fascinating experience!

Many would describe Amador’s food creations as art – but it is so much more than that. For me the food itself was a 4-hour love affair! The 14-course menu started off with delicate little tree sculptures. I thought it was a unique decoration at first, and then I realized that it was the first dish to eat! What an imagination one must have to make something so fine and beautiful that is also edible! With this “Tree of Hope” the affair had begun! Like with any love affair I got to know the object of my affection – in this case – the menu, dish by dish. The taste was like nothing I had tried before. There were many mixes of sweet and salty – which created the drama and spice needed for the passion to burn – like untamed sex on the kitchen floor! The height of the affair was the langoustine and goose liver, which was served in the shape of a Lego piece. Along with this delicacy came dishes that included morello cherry with joselito, scallops, morel with cecina de león, pork belly with pineapple, Lamb in an enclosed glass ball, cured cheese, and much more! The big bang came at the very end, in the form of a rock garden. Ever since I was a child, I was always asking my mom for salty cereal with salty milk. Strange, I know but I am a lover of salt. To my delight, the biggest piece of the rock garden was made out of pistachio ice cream… and guess what? It was a salty ice cream! A dream come true for me, which I have been wishing for over 20 years now! It was a wild experience ending with an oral orgasm, where the taste buds were stimulated with such unusual delicious flavors and sensations! The wine was flowing all night, and the laughter in the room and happy atmosphere were making this a truly remarkable experience.

I looked at my watch and saw that it was midnight, and so the 4-hour love affair was coming to an end. I didn’t want the evening to finish, but like Cinderella in her fairytale, it was time to bid our farewell and go. We left the Restaurant Amador in its entire splendor, and stepped into the warm night air. This love affair is one that I will not forget anytime soon! Juan Amador was awarded 3 Michelin stars for his exquisite creations, but if it were up to me, I would present him with all of the Michelin stars in the sky.

Like with any fantastic week, this one ended with an Italian fashion escapade to the opening of the Brioni store. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by two gorgeous ladies holding a clipboard, and welcoming us into the store. Delicious cold champagne has found its way to my hand, and so I was ready to check out what makes Brioni so special for men. I was pleasantly surprised at the fine materials and the color selection for this season. The suits and shirts had very stylish, tight-fitted cuts, yet at the same time quite masculine. Of course the Who’s Who of Frankfurt were there, with bright smiles, winks and hellos going around the store. Delicious Hors d’oeuvre were circulated, and the champagne kept making its way back to us. Brioni has clothing only for men, but that didn’t stop me from getting a large white shirt, and wearing a belt around the waist, turning the fancy shirt into a dress. All in all, it was a very exciting and fabulous week. Thank you Juan Amador, Brioni and my love Frankfurt for spoiling me with such delicious beauty, style and joy. I have to say that our little cosmopolitan city has a world of its own to offer, so all you need to do it go out there, explore and enjoy! Life is short boys and girls, so have fun and be happy ❤
