Villa Ratatouille Popup Opening in Frankfurt

Villa Ratatouille Popup Opening in Frankfurt 1200 774 Galia Brener

Mysterious. Delicious. Artistic. These are the first few words that come to mind when you enter this wonderful building. Located inconspicuously in the heart of Frankfurt, this silent villa sits in its splendor – pretending to be innocently empty. But it’s not. Quite the opposite actually. We rang the bell and the door quietly opened. We stepped inside and the adventure began.

We were greeted by two lovely young ladies from the Pomp brand. Very representative of Frankfurt – sparkling pink apple wine – their famous Cuvée rosé. We couldn’t help but notice the beautiful Japanese cherry blossom trees all the way up the staircase to the highest floor. We took our pink drink and made our way up to the gallery. I was really looking forward to this evening because of my love for art and food – two of my favorite elements mixed together. The first room we entered was quite a dark one. I was enticed by the beautiful hearts painted on an open hand, ready to give hope to its lucky receivers. The painting didn’t have a name, so I called it the “Hearts of Hope” – with many beautiful red hearts floating seductively towards the sky. The very talented artist – Justus Becker – told us that his work and inspiration is called “COR” – very fitting to an evening full of love and passion. The other rooms had works of art by Diana Catherine Eger and others.

As we continued up the stairway to heaven, we arrived on the floor where the dinner was to take place. There were two rooms, beautifully decorated with antique chandeliers, candles and exquisite carpets on the wall by Fashion For Floors. The tables were set up in an elegant way to allow one to meet and mingle with their neighbors and maybe even flirt with that lovely lady or gentleman across the table. Of course it wasn’t a surprise for us to hear that the dinners for every evening in the duration of the event were already sold out! This little sweet artistic surprise in Frankfurt became popular quite quickly – everyone wanted in!

In a matter of an hour, the two dining rooms filled with people, and everyone was eager to taste the luxurious delicacies of Rainer Neidhart, a well-known television cook. The “who’s who” of Frankfurt were there, the mood was happy and cheerful, the Pomp and Grauburgunder were flowing and the people were chirping with excitement. The delicious menu was served, accompanied by perfectly fitting wines to each course. The DJ was spinning his funky beats in the room next door, which gave us a perfect chance to walk around and mingle between the fabulous taste buds explosions. The bar area was full of people, all curious to see the art and get a glimpse of this awesome popup location.

I was impressed with the amazing organization and operation of the evening. The menu was served to over 100 people in the mysterious abandoned villa in perfect timing. Nobody was left out and everything was cooked to perfection. Peyman Far of the Landwehrstübchen restaurant und Max Reggiannini did a great job making it all happen – the masterminds of Villa Ratatouille. I was happy to see Daniel Tobias Etzel, owner of the WAOH agency, who spread the magic of the Villa in Frankfurt and called me up about this fabulous event. Thanks Daniel for keeping our city exciting.

The Villa is a special place in Frankfurt. I was speaking to the owner last night and he told me, “The villa was created last year as an off-space location for exhibitions (Staedel students), pop up restaurants, art and music performances and other happenings. It’s all combined with a real communal touch, and everyone feels like they are a part of it, and the atmosphere and aura of the place makes it even more special. When the villa closes, we can look back and say, as a community, we did something creative with this place and had some good times, laughs and memories.”

Villa Ratatouille, located at the Windmühlstraße 9 in Frankfurt, will be open until the 7th of May, offering us some weeks of fun bar and gallery evenings. There is a changing lineup with a new DJ every evening. You can check out the lineup on the Facebook page.

From 7pm until late at night, the Villa is the perfect place to unwind after work, indulge in artistic culture, meet new people and just have fun. Villa Ratatouille is about emotions, love and enjoying the moment in our fast paced world. I have to say that I was very impressed with this evening – definitely an enrichment to our little city with a big attitude!
