New Year, New You! Fashion Rebellion for the Warrior Princess Within!

New Year, New You! Fashion Rebellion for the Warrior Princess Within! 896 1119 Galia Brener

2017 is here and that means that we finally live in the future! However, only a few hundred years ago, fashion and lifestyle rules were very strict. Ladies could not leave the house without proper gloves or a companion. In fact, they couldn’t leave their house without a corset that tightened their waist so hard that fainting was expected at least once a day. Imagine that – not having the freedom of self-expression or movement. Back then, everything out of the ordinary was considered a form of rebellion.

As I was sitting outside a few days ago, trying to catch the magical snow flakes in my toxic green vintage leather gloves, I came up with this topic as my motto for 2017: Fashion Rebellion!

I like to think of a new year as being a new start. It’s a fresh chance to do everything that your heart and soul desire. It works psychologically as a clean slate for new adventures and possibilities. This year I promise myself to be more daring and wild with my outfits and visions. This is what I adore about living in the future: the chance to create and wear anything you want! Gone are the “safety” outfits where every color, pattern and style has to match. This is the time to embrace our warrior princess within and allow our colorful and exotic soul to glow from the inside out!

I got a chance to play with my new fashion rebellion concept a few months before 2016 ended, while filming a travel TV show in Thailand. I was the main protagonist and was told to wear anything I wanted. Before the trip, I went to TK Maxx to stock up on all my casual, chic and sporty outfits, as well as beauty supplies. I love shopping here because everything is always up to 60% cheaper than the RRP. The selection is enormous and one can find anything from the most conservative to wild outlandish styles. Since I didn’t have much time to shop before flying, I was happy that I could find everything at once under the TK Maxx roof.

Wild accessories in oh-so-casual places

We arrived in the Thailand paradise. Since I had a camera team always with me, including jet lag in the mix, having my funky pink reflector shades was like a gift from the heavens above. Just like a shield is a source of protection and comfort to the knight, the wild accessories are like a source of magic and seduction to the warrior princess. I managed to walk the complete food and spice market in Bangkok wearing my glasses from Mars, while being filmed with the sous chef from the Lebua hotel. The cool thing was that we both wore our shades inside, like mischievous partners in crime, while the camera kissed our alien bug faces. After the cooking class, we went shopping and I changed faster than the speed of light into my star-struck dress, accompanied by a unique pink colored telephone-shaped handbag. As soon as I saw these accessories at TK Maxx, I knew that they are going with me on my adventure to the City of Angels. Little did I know that the funky telephone bag will be a star of its own.

Float on the beach in a gala dress

Are you reading this with your eyebrows raised, thinking, “Galia really? Hanging around the beach in a gala dress?!” Well… yes! The time is now. Life is short. Dare to be bold and different. Next time you are on a holiday, take that elegant dress you might only wear on a “special occasion” and wear it on the beach – day or night! Fashion rebellion is about being in touch with your inner warrior princess and not being afraid to express how you feel, in every situation and location. I found a perfect dress at TK Maxx for this occasion: black, short in the front with a long chiffon train in the back. The top front panel has a gladiator-like pattern, which I fell in love with right away. I planned to wear it in the evening, but since I had no time to change for the evening shooting, I had to wear the dress in the afternoon on the beach. The feeling was overwhelming at first. I felt all eyes on me. What will they think? The crazy girl with a chic dress on the beach! Some looked strangely at me, some smiled and gave compliments. But important is what I felt inside – and that was beautiful, seductive and glamorous. So go ahead my darlings, wear that fancy dress on the beach. I dare you!

Pool time in crazy quotes and prints

As I laid eyes upon the “Le Freak C’est Chique” bamboo cotton t-shirt at TK Maxx, I knew that this will be my “pièce de résistance” for the journey, combined with the sensational zebra pattern clash skirt. What is a better time to wear such beautiful things than lounging around a luxurious pool? I used to always go to the pool wearing a bikini and a simple thing to cover it. Well that was the ancient past. 2017 is a time to make an unforgettable statement that will make those jaws drop and heads turn. A true fashion rebel is afraid of nothing and no one!

After the relaxing pool hours, I was very happy that I got some lavishing beauty products there as well, which helped my skin to recover. I pampered myself with a mask to tighten my pores and a treatment against wrinkles after sun exposure. I’m always impressed by the large amount of beauty products offered at TK Maxx. What’s wonderful is that they are from different parts of the world and many various brands, hence you are always in for a great surprise.

My dear readers, I would like to once again wish you a lovely, happy and healthy start into the new year. If you have any long-standing wishes and desires, now is the time to make it happen! Don’t wait for a better time. There is never a right time. Don’t forget…. new year, new you! Join the fashion rebellion with me.

Hugs,

Your Gali

Neues Jahr, neues Ich!

Auffallende Accessoires an fremden Orten

Seid umarmt,

Eure Gali

Enjoying Wild Sport in Thailand

Enjoying Wild Sport in Thailand 1280 959 Galia Brener

When I first found out about my trip to Thailand, I was joyous beyond belief. For I have never been to Thailand before, and it was my heart’s desire to go there for many years already! Lady Luck was on my side and she was being very gracious to me. I was invited to be in a television show called “Thailand for Ladies”, airing on RheinmainTV, which was created by the travel agency Vivamundo Reisen and the TAT to promote tourism in Thailand for women.

I have been to many places around the world, lived on four different continents, but still missing on my list was the City of Angels, known as Bangkok. The locals say that this mysterious city is where the immortal divinity dwells, and the thought of walking the same ground as the immortal souls made me feel like I’m going on a secret mission. We boarded the beautifully designed pink and purple Thai Airways plane and set off on our adventure!

There were many fascinating cultural things on our program, but what really got me in the princess warrior spirit, was our amazing sport program: Muay Thai, yoga and a bike tour in the jungle!

Before I left Frankfurt, I geared up on all my active wear at TK Maxx, because they have a huge selection of everything one needs for the perfect workout. I love getting my sporty stuff there because not only is it functional, but also stylish and everything is always up to 60% cheaper than the RRP. For example, the leggings that I bought there for my Thailand yoga class has pieces of mesh running down the legs that show my skin in all the right places. We all want active wear that actually looks good while we are sweating and straining ourselves, or as I like to say, “Looking sensual with a perfect sport performance”. Besides, what is a better time than the present to work on the “New-You”? I like to think that a new year brings a new start. For me personally, this new start comes along with a healthier lifestyle, which definitely includes doing sports and staying fit. Therefore I was very happy to jumpstart to the “New-Me” with these fun activities in Thailand!

The first adventure on the list was Muay Thai over the roofs of Bangkok at the gorgeous Anantara hotel. I was given a bright red pair of Thai boxing shorts, and told to be on the roof of the hotel in one hour! The shorts were a perfect match to my red t-shirt. Knowing that everything will be filmed, I was quite happy about the perfect outfit. Thanks to my warrior-princess nature and my martial art past, I raced to the roof, joyous beyond belief at the thought of practicing with a real Muay Thai fighter. We trained for a while, and the teacher showed me the basic tricks in the book, and it didn’t hurt that he was quite handsome as well. After the lesson I realized how much I missed martial arts in my life. It’s a feeling of being connected to the ancient warriors and protectors from the past. After the kicks, I felt the adrenaline rushing through my veins the entire night!

What’s a Thailand trip without a proper visit into the depths of the jungle? Mine involved a 30 km bicycle ride! Spraying myself three times from head to toe in horrendous mosquito repellent, I jumped onto the bike and was ready to rumble. Again, the Outfit-Color-Gods were on my side during this trip, because I was given a helmet that perfectly matched what I was wearing. For those who know me, know my immense love for tie-dyed clothing, which probably confirms that I was a hippie in Woodstock in my past life. I was lucky enough to find a gorgeous blue t-shirt dress at TK Maxx, which was chic, yet casual enough for this jungle adventure.

We saw majestic temples on the way and many friendly locals waving at us. When we arrived in the jungle, we had to ride over swamps on elevated wooden boards. Some parts of the path were only 1 meter wide and I had to keep precise balance, not to fall off the elevation into the swamp, making myself the perfect snack for a friendly crocodile. Having to defend my new Muay Thai warrior image, I smiled and said sure, great, so easy. It was everything else but easy, because I swerved a few times, yet luckily caught my bike in perfect time before plunging into the green goo. I haven’t felt more alive in years! It was an absolutely amazing, thrilling and fascinating experience, one that I will not soon forget!

The life in Bangkok was very fascinating and full of action. The atmosphere and energy were something that I enjoyed very much. I come from Toronto, which is a fast-paced and vibrant city, therefore I felt very happy and at ease here. It was time to take the plane to our next destination, the lovely and beautiful Koh Samui.

Last but not least was the relaxing part of the wild sport tour. Since I can’t go without yoga for more than a few days, I was thrilled when we made our way to the Yogarden in Koh Samui. This was a funky little yoga school set outside in the nature. It was my first time doing yoga directly in a jungle outside. The experience was overwhelming, and I felt the peace and quiet enter my mind and spread throughout my body. Feeling pretty in my pink yoga outfit, this wonderful outdoor lesson left me with a very positive and releasing feeling.

A few days later, it was time to leave my newfound paradise, known as Thailand. I was very impressed with all the activities that we did there. I could not imagine a better place to enjoy such a variety of fun and wild sports as there! I felt elated and at peace. Everything was happening in the right flow and to perfection, including my impeccably handpicked sport outfits at TK Maxx for this amazing journey. It was time to board the plane back to Ebbelwoi city. Standing at the gate, while staring outside the large window, I felt that I will be back soon, because it’s impossible to stay away from the City of Angels.

Are You Beautiful?

Are You Beautiful? 960 1199 Galia Brener

Last week I met my girls for a drink and we got into a heated discussion about appearances. 3 out of the 4 said that it matters what others think of their appearance, especially other women. If they get compliments, and other women think they look good, then they feel better about themselves. If they get a negative comment about their appearance, their mood drops, and their confidence is affected as well. We spent hours philosophizing about this, and the girls decided that it’s important what others think about their appearance. I do not agree about this conclusion. What if one doesn’t get complimented all the time, do they have to hang themselves? No! You and only you decide about your own beauty, self-confidence and happiness.

Don’t forget that not everyone around us is automatically happy for us. Sometimes it will happen that people will criticize you on purpose, or say something negative simply to make you feel bad because they are jealous of you. It could also be that others have a completely different sense of what’s beautiful or not. And of course they’re own style might be completely the opposite of yours. So you can see the threat of relying on other people’s opinion about your appearance! I think it’s dangerous to put your happiness, which is your personal power, in other people’s hands. You are your own master, so please don’t let anyone steal your sunshine away from you.

I have a friend Kara, and she’s the fashion beauty queen of her clique. When she goes out with her girls, she is always dressed to perfection. Perfect hair, precisely done makeup, exquisitely matched accessories, and always 10cm+ high heels. They always look like those gorgeous girls out of a Vogue photo shooting. But the strange thing is that they walk around like that during the day as well! Of course with lower heels, but still full makeup on. Last month Kara and I met up for dinner. I asked that she comes casually dressed with very minimal makeup on. (I wanted to show her an important lesson). Of course as I expected she freaked out at first, but then agreed. We met outside the restaurant, and I was so surprised by her amazing natural beauty. As the evening progressed we drank some wine and she became more relaxed. I asked her why did she always make herself up like that? Wasn’t it excruciatingly exhausting to always try to be so perfect? She actually broke down and cried, and said that the pressure of society and her friends was unbearable.

She was expected to always look the prettiest and most perfect she can be. Actually deep inside of herself she hated it and herself for keeping up with this charade. Kara also said that otherwise men would pay less attention to her. Funny but as she was saying that, there was a young man at the next table looking intensely at her. As the evening progressed, Kara came out of her uncomfortable shell, and was enjoying herself very much – just being her natural self! The two men at the table invited us for a drink. Kara ended up meeting a wonderful guy and enjoyed the best evening she has had in years! He even complimented on how natural her beauty was! If she were made up like her usual Barbie doll self, he would have not spoken to her. Ever since that evening, Kara has really gotten back to her natural beautiful self, and feels happier and safer inside! I am so happy that she finally understood that happiness comes from within.

Let’s face it, you are the only one that can feel yourself from the inside. No one else in this Universe knows how it feels to be you from within – so you know best about how you look and feel from the inside out. The others can only see you from the outside. So actually their approval is only based on a superficial exterior level, which is actually not the most important thing. There is nothing wrong with getting a makeover, or changing your style, but do it for yourself and not for others! Society is such a bitch, and will not be there for you if you “fall off your heels”, so who cares what they think? Do what’s best for you, and take care that you are happy and healthy. No one can insert happiness into your heart, and only you can make sure that you feel beautiful and wonderful. Girls do yourself a favor and don’t be influenced by anyone. Not a man, not your friends and no one else. Disregard what they think – to yourself you will always be beautiful exactly as you are… and you know it ♥

Ciao 2016, please leave us already! Welcome to the new beautiful 2017!

Ciao 2016, please leave us already! Welcome to the new beautiful 2017! 1280 1687 Galia Brener

You’ve had your Christmas fun, and now for the few days before the New Year starts, it’s time to get down to business. What is such an urgent task that cannot wait until next year, you ask? The task is the one and only “Me-Inventory”. It sounds quite simple, but actually it can get deep and dirty, with truths exposed and shocking things revealed. But since we are tough guys and gals, and I’m sure that you can handle it, I will share my secret with you. At the end of each year, I make a thorough inventory of my life for that year – from top to bottom, not overlooking any gruesome details. At the end, I see what I have achieved, learned, and what I can do much better next year. This helps me grow as a woman, as a person, and also helps to increase success. However, you must be completely honest with yourself, or else this won’t work for you. So my lovelies, let’s start!

1. Achievements: Let’s start with the nice stuff! This was a damn long year, for some a horrible one, and for others a positive one. But for many, 2016 was a year for the fighting spirit – the Samurai among us. Think back to all of the great things you achieved this year. This includes a new career, having a loving relationship, building your first house, having a child, getting married, overcoming addictions, or whatever wonderful thing you achieved this year, take some time to honor it. Anyone who achieved anything important in 2016 deserves to celebrate, because this bitch of a year was a difficult astrological one, and hence you deserve double recognition for it. You must praise yourself for your success, and feel proud of what you did. I made it a ritual to buy myself a present at the end of the year to celebrate my achievements. Spoiling yourself once in a while is very important, because it helps to remind you of accomplishments and appreciate your own worth.

2. Screw-ups: let’s be honest, we are no angels. I can think back and list a few mistakes I made this year, and so can you. This is where it gets hard because we don’t usually like to admit our mistakes, especially to ourselves! But since you’re brave, and a new year is starting, push yourself to do it. Think back. Have you hurt someone? Played, cheated, stole, backstabbed, told lies, broke hearts and promises, acted disrespectfully or cruelly? Maybe it is yourself that you hurt with something like a bad habit, or allowing others to treat you badly? Maybe you let something slip away that you regret? Send your ego to hell for a moment, and really open yourself up and remember the mistakes you made. Try to acknowledge the wrongs that you did, and see if there is a chance to set things right again. If you are brave enough, you can even contact the person and ask them for forgiveness – it is your Karma after all. If you have already set things right again, then it is time to forgive yourself, forgive the other person, forgive the situation, and move on.

3. Lessons: 2016 was the year with the most life lessons for me so far. Some of them hit me hard and were not so easy to learn, while the others I embraced quite quickly and open-heartedly. Look back and figure out what were your most important lessons of this year. Life threw you these bones, hoping that you will learn and improve on your mistakes. If these lessons are not learned, they will only enter your life again and again, and torture you until you will finally get it. To be honest, I did not learn a lesson in 2012, and the very same thing happened to me at the very same time in 2013! It was so creepy! You have to realize what life is trying to show you, and make improvements on these things, so that you can grow and move on. Think back, what could you have done better? Take these lessons and use them for your good in 2017, and do things better this time around! And please, do not be angry at your fate – this happened for you to become a better and stronger person.

4. Cleaner: Don’t worry, no killing mafia skills necessary. Look back at the year, and make an inventory of the people in your life. Be honest to yourself: Is there anyone who has to be cleaned out of your life? Do you have so-called “friends” that are dishonest, ruin your relationships, don’t care about you, or even worse, jealous of you? What about a partner that does not respect, appreciate, and truly love you, or maybe doesn’t want to make a commitment to you? They don’t deserve you, and be assured that Lady Karma will take care of them. Let it go, and get rid of them! Sometimes people come into your life for a reason, and once their mission is fulfilled, it is better to send them along their way before they cause more damage in your life. Try to get rid of all toxic people that do you no good before this year ends. Surround yourself only with goodness – and with people that will respect, love, appreciate, honor, and truly love and care for you – and you for them.

The last days before the year ends are some of the most crucial ones. This special time provides us with a moment to become quieter and look deep within ourselves. It’s a chance to reminisce about the funny, lovely and good things that happened, and allows us to learn from our mistakes. It’s an opportunity to make things right again. It’s a chance to say goodbye to the old, and make space for the wonderful new and exciting things to come. If you feel brave enough, try to do the Me-Inventory. It helps me each year, and offers great reassurance. Besides, the best thing about completing the Me-Inventory is the fact that you have another chance right around the corner: New Year, new start!

I wish you a great 2017 dear friends! A good year full of health, love, prosperity, joy and fun! May all your dreams and wishes comes true in 2017. This is your year!

Many hugs,

Your Gali
